PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ENACT PROPOSED ORDINANCE

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of Jackson Township will consider for adoption Ordinance No. 2025-103 at a public meeting to be held on December 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Jackson Township Municipal Building, 2162 Route 715, Reeders, PA.

The proposed ordinance approves the Certificate submitted by the Pocono-Jackson Joint Water Authority requesting to terminate its existence under 53 Pa.C.S. § 5619, authorizes the filing and recording of the Certificate with the Secretary of the Commonwealth and the Monroe County Recorder of Deeds, provides for the receipt and equal distribution of all remaining Authority property between Jackson Township and Pocono Township, authorizes Township officials to take all actions needed to complete the termination, and includes standard severability, repealer, and effective-date provisions.

A full copy of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection at the Jackson Township Municipal Building during regular business hours and may be obtained from the Township Secretary upon request.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT ORDINANCE

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of Jackson Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, will consider for adoption and may adopt Ordinance No. 2025-104 at a special public meeting on December 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at the Jackson Township Municipal Building, 2162 Route 715, Reeders, Pennsylvania.

 The proposed ordinance is titled “An Ordinance of Jackson Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, Establishing Per-Meeting Compensation for Members of the Board of Supervisors; Repealing Prior Compensation Provisions; and Providing for an Effective Date.” The ordinance is authorized by Act 94 of 2024, which amended 53 P.S. § 65606 to permit townships to compensate Supervisors on a per-meeting basis. The ordinance amends Section 201 of Chapter 1, Part 2 of the Jackson Township Code of Ordinances by repealing the existing compensation provision and replacing it with a new per-meeting compensation system applicable to Supervisors whose terms begin after the ordinance becomes effective. The ordinance sets the per-meeting compensation amount, limits total annual compensation to the statutory maximum, establishes rules for excused absences, and provides that Supervisors currently in office will continue to receive compensation under the system in effect when their present terms began. The ordinance also states that nothing in it limits or affects the ability of a Supervisor to receive hourly employee compensation for work performed in an employee capacity as authorized by 53 P.S. § 65606(a). The ordinance includes standard severability, repealer, and effective-date provisions.
